All Things Fascia

EDUCATOR: Carol M. Davis, DPT, EdD, MS, FAPTA

CEUs: 3 NPCP Credits

Description

This 3-hour workshop, led by Dr. Carol Davis, explores the latest understanding of fascia and its role in movement, perception, and therapeutic practice. We’ll examine fascia from a global perspective, exploring how the emerging science of biotensegrity challenges outdated, machine-based biomechanics theories.

Topics include the science of fascia as “soft matter,” demonstrating why light touch can be more effective than deep pressure. We’ll discuss the malleability of the extracellular matrix and how spiral motion and gentle compression promote fascial reorganization. The workshop will also investigate fascia as the body’s largest sensory organ, distinguishing between proprioceptive and interoceptive awareness.

We’ll further explore the connection between fascia and therapeutic presence, highlighting the emerging science of resonance, empathy, and consciousness. Finally, we’ll consider fascia as a doorway to deeper self-awareness and as an instrument of connection—within oneself, with others, and with the earth.
